Hiii, happy winter/ spring and happy Black History Month! Aside from the morbid wheather shifts this February was a delightful one. While the week leading up to my break from school was a treacherous one, it was made up for by the me letting my productive counter part take over during break. While I did spend majority of the break at home, both of the days I went out and the ones I stayed in felt both enjoyable and productive. I also relaxed for the first time without having the feeling of regret hovering over me (which is very rare).
Speaking in regards to the weather, it was absolutely beautiful in New York on Wednesday (concerning but beautiful). I visited MoMA for the first time with a few friends. Side note: It never fails to shock me that as a Manhattan resident, I have yet to to visit museums such as the MET, MoMA, or walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. But besides the point I had fun and hope to visit those other places before I graduate. At MoMA I experience my first celebrity spotting and met Euphoria's one and only, Dominic Fick. At the moment we were took scared to ask him for a picture and left the exhibit he was in with his friend, but then went back to find him and ask for a picture. After the picture, I was hit with an instant wave of regret because I know the poor man wanted to look at paintings without being disrupted but fans, but his friend took a cute picture of us and I look at it at least once a day.
A recent obsession of mine that originated mid January is playing the Sims. I finally indulged and downloaded it after not being allowed to when I asked to play in 7th grade, but now I can't stop. I also may or may not have spent an excessive amount of money on expansion/game packs but its for the sake of happiness, I'm having too much fun. I do worry that this may be a faze but hope it't not because I have played for HOURS and spent money on it. This may be unhealthy but I like to believe playing this for hours is an escape from consuming too much media. Also, notion is something I come to like as of yesterday. I finally found the patience to commit time and design it the way I want. It's taking forever because it's SOOO overwhelming but I'm kind of having fun.
As for recent reads, I finished Sula. I honestly have no idea what I read because I was so busy but I hope to pick it back up mid March, because I will not backdown to my goal of reading every Toni Morrison book. I am currently reading Ottessa Moshfegh's My Year of Rest and Relaxation, which is definitely the strangest book I've read but I am enjoying it. The mc is extremely depressed, unhinged, and morbid; and frequently causes my jaw to drop with the statement she makes, but others-wise a good read so far.
To end this off I thought I would share some of my favorite works of art I saw at MoMA. :)
